Kswags is a very talented song writer and singer, he already spend time with A list Nigerian musician such as OJB, Adol, Danfo Drivers and many others. He will be working with Da Slimz Entertainment for his coming album. The company CEO Ogunde Ayodele aka Bobby is glad the young artist will be putting pen to paper soon with the company.
The interview session with Kswags
DSE: What is your name?
Kswags: Am Disu Hakeem Ishola, aka Kswags
DSE:Where are you from?
Kswags: Am from Lagos State, Badagry precisely. I grew up at Badagry.
DSE:How did you get your stage name?
Kswags: Actually when i first started my music career, i go by the stage name Keemex. Dont really know why i dump the name though (laugh). I got the name Kswags around 2011 from a very incident that happens between me and my friends.
DSE: How could you describe your music to the public audience if they have never seen you before?
Kswags: Well my kind of music is really unique? cause it fusion of life into dance-hall, am a complete artist my style of music encompasses reggae, dance-hall, blues, soul, jazz and fuji except rap. So i can fit into any genre of music but precisely am an afro pop act.
DSE: Thinking back to early childhood, what was your experience with music for the first time like. What song do you remember as a child?
Kswags: My first experience with music was nice the first music wasSunny Ade music title "Mi O Ba Won Wa".
DSE: What was the first song you ever sang, and how those it make you feel?
Kswags: Do you mean now or back then?
DSE: Now
Kswags: Well my first songs was "Forever In My Mind". I was so happy when i sang the song back then around 2010. The song is still one of my best songs.
DSE: Is there a reason why you decide not to promote the song?
Kswags: Not really, was still looking for promoters then to help with my music and the recording was on a semi standard level.
DSE: What made you first think you want to pursue a career in music?
Kswags: The reason why i want to pursue a music career, is because music is my passion and i love music than any other thing except my parent. So am in into music cos music is me and it my life and am going to give it my best.
DSE: What kind of people do you expect to see at your life performnce?
Kswags: (smiles) well teenagers, youths, adults, olds. Everybody cause my music is for everybody
DSE: What do you think your "biggest break" or "greatest opportunity" has been so far concerning your music career?
Kswags: (Laugh) hmmm.... well that will be my collabo with Skaley
DSE: What has been the biggest challenge for you?
Kswags: My biggest challenge was to break through into the music industry, and i thank God, am holding my grounds little by little.
DSE:What are your immediate music career goals?
Kswags: Well i will signing with a record label soon which is Da Slimz Entertainment and i believe with the way things are going with them and the plans we have been discussing together i believe by the next three years, i will be PSY times three ( laugh). Maybe more than that.
DSE: You've heard of the term "starving artists" before how do you cope with the major obstacles?
Kswags: I think that is the reason why i sign up with a record label. They help and manage all my timeline and make me a successful musician.
DSE; We got the tips from a source that the CEO of Da Slimz Entertainment is your secondary school alumni, how does affects your chance with the record label?
Kswags: I and Bobby truly went to the same secondary school together, after he graduated we weren't able to catch up for a very long time. Later i saw his post about his GRANDSLAM DANCE. He pinged me on bbm after i sent my pin over, and we chat for a very long time. During over conversation i let him know i sing and he was like "wow Hakeem that is so good, i own a record label also maybe we can work something out together soon". So since then we have been working on how to work together since then.
DSE: Do you have any music video yet?
Kswags: No, but soon i will be shooting the video of 'Sexy Lady'
DSE: About your contract with Da Slimz Entertainment.............
Kswags: (cuts in)............Am sorry the contract details is still confidential, when am permit to discuss it i will surely let you know. But it a very good one for me and the company.
DSE: Which musician will you like to feature with?
Kswags: Well i have many ....Wizkid, Eva, Olamide, Tuface, Psquare, Flavour, Iyanya, so many of them.
DSE: You mention Eva among the artist you will like to feature with, why?
Kswags: Eva is one of the best female rappers in Nigeria, i love her style of music so much, and i know one day i will be in the same studio with her doing a song together.
DSE: Is this your first interview online?
Kswags: Yeah, this is the first interview am doing. Da Slimz Entertainment make this happen.
DSE: So you already gaining from Da Slimz Entertainment?
Kswags: YES OOO
